The book fair was indeed a spectacle to watch. The World Book Fair is organised every alternate year, publishers from all across the world participate in it. Each hall was segmented into many stalls managed by the respective publishing houses. As the clock struck eight in memorable words, we returned back home with the bulk of books in our hands.
I also bought a few books on literature. My friends also bought several books. Books on wide range of disciplines such as Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Children books, Literature were displayed in almost all stalls.
We were very happy on seeing that. There were a few stalls where we saw books on performing arts, books on Finance and Management, books on anatomy and medicine, books on law and income tax, university books and sponsored books.
Some of the stalls particularly those dealing in stationery and children books were thronged by the people. It is held in Pragati Maidan.
We were stunned to watch this event. We bought books of our choice. The entry was free for the students. There were cafeterias and ice-cream parlours. We had to pass through metal detector to reach the different halls. Hence, we went to the Book Fair on the very inaugural day.
The teacher readily agreed and took us batch by batch to this event. Every stall was very impressive no doubt, but the most attractive among all was the seating arrangements made for the enthusiastic and curious readers by few publications.
As I am very fond of books, I with my friends decided to visit and watch this mega festival. In addition, there was a huge collection of dictionaries.
We hired a big van and went along with our teacher to watch this grand event. There were attractive hoardings everywhere. At around eleven, we were at the venue. I wish that such book fairs may be organised every year to stimulate the students to read more and more books.
There were local publishers, National publishers and International publishers with various kinds of books, Periodicals, Teaching Aids, audio-visual materials, computer software and hardware etc. It was a memorable trip. It took 30 minutes to reach there.
They were arranged in a very attractive way. We discussed this with our teacher to visit this mega event. I purchased one dictionary along with many books on science and technology. The year was declared “The Year of Books” by the National Book Trust. When we heard of this we were eager to visit the book fair. The book fair was a spectacle to watch. Books on wide range of topics like, Bhagvad Geeta, Advanced Vedanta, Upanishads were displayed. Every stall was very impressive but the most attractive among all was the children’s book stall.
